About Ascend Healthcare - Magnolia House
Located in a family-friendly neighborhood in Western Los Angeles, Magnolia House offers diagnosis-specific care for teens ages 12–17 with depression and anxiety. With a low client-to-staff ratio, teens receive consistent, relationship-based care in a safe, structured space where they feel seen and capable. They empower teens to become the protagonists of their own stories, helping them understand how their choices and actions shape their futures.
Build Therapeutic Skills for Lasting Success
Magnolia House’s clinical philosophy is rooted in the idea that adolescents thrive when their unique identities and diagnoses are understood and supported. Therapists work closely with each adolescent to identify what feels motivating to them, using therapies like:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy to develop positive thought patterns
- Dialectical behavior therapy to learn emotional regulation skills
- Holistic wellness practices like yoga and ecopsychology
- Expressive arts like painting, videography, music, and digital arts
- And Dungeons and Dragons, STEM, and improv
Connect & Grow in a Comfortable Home
Magnolia House’s all-gender facility is designed to meet teens’ needs. Staff are onsite 24/7 and there is a study room for academic support. Teens share bedrooms with queen beds, and a chef provides personalized nutrition. Areas for relaxation and connection include basketball and tennis courts, a spa, pool, fire pit, and BBQ. After a brief communication blackout, the teen calls home daily and can earn additional device access.
Empower the Whole Family with Aftercare
Before discharge, Magnolia develops a comprehensive aftercare plan in collaboration with the teen, their family, and outpatient providers. This includes referrals to community therapists, psychiatrists, or step-down programs, as well as continued family sessions. Their alumni program ensures the profound change experienced during treatment continues to flourish for both parents and teens through ongoing community connection and expert guidance from the clinical team for as long as needed.
