At Bluff, recovery is more than a series of meetings. It’s a vibrant process of continued learning, character development, and restored relationships, supported by relapse prevention skills. Bluff helps people with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders with medically supervised detox, residential care, and step-down support through a day treatment program (PHP). Set on 178 acres near Augusta (home of The Masters), Bluff welcomes patients from Charleston, Savannah, and Myrtle Beach.

Combine Skills-Based and Experiential Healing

Bluff blends evidence-based clinical care with immersive, experiential therapies to help patients build stability for long-term recovery. In individual, group, and family sessions, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients identify and change destructive thought patterns while dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) builds distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation. Equine-assisted therapy, gardening, art, and movement use hands-on methods to build insight, connection, and self-expression.

Restore Energy with Nature and Nutrition

Clients stay in on-campus cottages designed for comfort and calm on Bluff’s 178-acre destination campus just outside Augusta. Much of daily life happens outdoors, with nature trails, ample outdoor seating, live oaks, and expansive green space for mindfulness, movement, and reflection. Bluff also offers a high-engagement ropes course, a large on-site horse barn, and culinary excellence with a professional chef and nutrition therapy.

Reinforce Progress with an Alumni Network

Bluff supports long-term recovery with aftercare planning that keeps clients connected through continued individual and group therapy, relapse-prevention strategies for triggers and daily stressors, and community support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). A vibrant alumni network extends accountability and fellowship. Aftercare can include life skills training in communication, time management, and financial planning, plus family education and sober living guidance in Augusta when helpful.

Testimonial
The Bluff is one of the most helpful rehabs I have been to. The information that they give, all of the knowledge, all of the benefits they give you. The staff is amazing, cooks are amazing, therapists are one of the most down to earth understanding people I have ever met. This place, compared to the last, has actually made me feel comfortable sharing what I have gone through and they help you work your way to a clean, and sober life. I would encourage anyone who is struggling or has a family member who is struggling to come to The Bluff, or suggest coming to The Bluff. You will be in good hands.

Review from Rehabs.com

I believe sending my daughter to Bluff Plantation saved her life. No facility is going to be perfect, but these are truly caring and skilled people. The Plantation is a gorgeous and peaceful setting. The staff at Bluff made us feel comfortable and safe. The equine therapy they offer is an incredibly powerful. My daughter was in dire physical shape when she walked in the door of Bluff, needing to withdraw from drugs, get proper diagnosis and treatment for bi-polar and treatment for opiate addiction. She left Bluff in much better physical shape, with meds that helped get her bi-polar better in control (for the first time ever) and with skills to move forward with sobriety. Please plan on participating in the family weekends - it will be a great help to the patient and family members. I've learned that my daughter's addiction is always going to be a day to day struggle, but for today (6 months of sobriety) my daughter is healthy, happy, sober. We will be forever thankful to everyone who touched our lives (staff, patients and other family members) in such a positive way at Bluff Plantation.

Review from Rehabs.com

For containment, structure and loving care Bluff is incredible! I’ve been there twice and both times I was impressed with interactions with daily staff. My therapists on both occasions were incredible but this is not a place where psychiatrists are of much value. Preliminary trauma work is definitely possible with a staff and the horses. The most beneficial work for me was with my therapy sessions, DBT, and the care of the techs and nurses. I never saw Dr. was more detrimental to the program than effective so if you go there the expectations should be around awesome structure, healthy and motivating groups and incredible care by the techs, nurses & Dr. These people are the backbone of Bluff and will help you more than Dr. Additionally, the chef could be working anywhere but chooses to be at Bluff to help patients detox with delicious, incredible, low sugar and healthy food.
