Camino Recovery is an intentionally small, family-run treatment centre with nearly two decades of experience treating addiction, trauma, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Clients coming from abroad discover discreet, clinically rigorous care, with a high staff-to-client ratio that provides a level of personal attention rarely available elsewhere. Within 30 minutes of Málaga International Airport, clients heal in a breathtaking area of Andalucía where no one needs anything from them.

Engage in Bespoke, Evidence-Based Solutions

Camino’s clinical team aims to help clients become more able to handle life’s complexity and pressure without feeling the need for short-term external fixes. They use a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches, including equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), art therapy, and psychodrama. Programmes also embrace experiential therapies and holistic methods including mindfulness, spirituality, yoga, physical wellness, nutrition, sleep hygiene, movement, connection, and long-term personal alignment.

Reset in Seclusion Near Málaga

With its ultra-small census of 7 clients, Camino’s private residential setting provides a powerful reset. Clients find comfort in private or shared suites, and enjoy exquisite cuisine prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The outdoor pool, palm trees, terraces, and walled gardens create a distinctly serene setting. Clients experience more of sunny Andalucía through curated excursions like sailing, hiking, golfing, and visits to picturesque villages, the Picasso Museum, the Alhambra Palace, and the Benálmadena Butterfly Park.

Maintain Momentum with Complimentary Aftercare

Camino Recovery ensures ongoing support to ease the transition home and maximise the chance of a dependence-free life. During treatment, each client and their therapist create a detailed aftercare plan with tailored recommendations for support in the client’s home community. To help them reach recovery milestones, plans often include weekly outpatient services, family programming, relapse prevention workshops, biweekly online alumni meetings, and ongoing staff support by phone.

The friendly attitude of the people made me feel comfortable from the start, and the beautiful surroundings added to the benevolent atmosphere that gave me the courage to tackle the hard business of recovery. The therapeutic staff proved to be excellent, and I found the whole setup professional and mature. I made more progress towards a lasting recovery in my 4 weeks than in the whole 8 weeks I spent at my first treatment centre.

Camino’s equine-assisted psychotherapy brings horses and humans together—no riding involved. Clients engage in ground-based activities that reveal patterns in relationships and behaviours. Over four or five days, they meet with therapists and take part in process groups and educational sessions that explore family systems, boundaries, communication, and more effective ways to support their loved one’s recovery.
Resolve the Underlying Problem: Trauma

As a treatment professional I went to Camino after suffering a relapse. I have known the people here for 30 years and consider them to be the best in the business. They have created a wonderful atmosphere inside a beautiful facility. Individual care and group therapy is very good and they also have great experience in secondary conditions. My ADHD was addressed here and other issues that dated back many years and had never been addressed before were uncovered. The family week was critical and they are the only facility in Europe that does it in the way they do.

Camino was recommended by another treatment-centre who had turned me away. At that point I was totally broken and had little ability to see the extent of the damage I was causing to myself and my family and friends. I had been ill with various different mental disorders and addictions for the better part of my life, some that I knew of, and others that I didn’t. The days were very long and painful to begin with, but with the help of the most wonderful human beings, I began to turn a corner. In the year leading up to Camino, all I felt was pain; whether that be very low lows or very high highs, I did not want to live anymore. Camino showed me that I wanted to live a life, and that this life could be good. Today I am writing this while going into the second term of university, something I cannot believe that I have managed. I am doing what I love: working with horses, and am surrounded by family and friends who love me. Camino is a place where I was treated with respect, honest, and a huge amount of love. I saw them strike the perfect balance of maintaining professionalism while holding me up as a cared for individual. I am so grateful for my time there, and I will carry it with me always

Going to Camino was the best gift I could have given myself. I arrived feeling lost, hopeless and fearful. Under the expert guidance and care of each staff member, I was able to learn about my addiction and better understand the condition I had been struggling with for so many years. I left Camino with optimism, gratitude and hope. I will be forever grateful for everything I was given over the course of my time there. The treatment I received at Camino was the start of a journey which has enabled me to better equip myself for the life I want to live for myself and my family. I am pleased to say that my recovery is going well so far, and I have Camino to thank for that.

All staff were very caring. I felt safe, like being rapped in cotton wool. I was able to face my demons with out worry, as I felt protected and safe. The overall experience was out of this world and with the security of knowing they are only a phone call away I have passed my 10th year completely sober with no urge to relapse.
