The first Cuan Mhuire treatment center in Cork was established in August 2006. This program serves women-only needing treatment for substance use disorder .Sr. Consilio recognized the need for a specialized program since she was aware of the particular challenges certain women face in their fight against addiction. Cuan Mhuire, Farnanes is located in a stunningly planted and wooded area.

One of the most significant advancements in the field of addiction treatment is the unique and experientially oriented approach offered by Cuan Mhuire. As the largest nonprofit provider in Ireland, Cuan Mhurie desire is to help those struggling with addiction and gambling addiction find hope, health, and lasting recovery. The Cuan Mhuire Program, which is based on the principle of complete abstinence, works to rebuild each participant's self-esteem, self-respect, and feeling of responsibility. Treatment involves life skills, education, group and family therapy, and individual counselling.

2 Year Aftercare Services

Participants move through a structured 12-week treatment for alcohol and a 20-week gambling/ addiction program for substance misuse. Cuan Mhuire continues to offer assistance after treatment. Their 2-year aftercare program continues to help individuals and their families in recovery. Since its founding in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, Cuan Mhuire has treated approximately 100,000 people.

Honestly can’t recommend this place enough, it was a life changing experience, staff are absolutely amazing they would honestly go above and beyond for you. I spend 5 months here and 7 months in a transition house and still attending aftercare , I honestly can’t thank this place enough it gave me hope I gained a purpose, I was broken going in and this place has a major positive part of my recovery I’m 15 months clean since, and I can’t thank cuan mhuire enough ; it saved my life… an absolute brilliant programme .
