The team at Cygnet is dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience and atmosphere, with specialised high support inpatient rehabilitation for women diagnosed with personality disorders, along with complex co-occurring mental health and trauma. Cygnet Alders Clinic is ideal for women who have previous failed treatment attempts, have a history of substance abuse, or who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their 3 phase program includes stabilisation services, ensuring safety and emotional and behavioural regulation. The core part of treatment involves a personalised evidence-based and psychiatric care plan, while consolidation, the third phase, focuses on transition and community reintegration.

Admission to Cygnet Health Care is not open to direct self-referral; the organization does not accept patients who contact the facilities directly to arrange their own treatment. As a primary partner to the NHS and local authorities, Cygnet Health Care operates almost exclusively through professional referrals funded by public health bodies. Prospective patients require a formal referral from a licensed healthcare provider, such as a General Practitioner (GP), social worker, or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), to secure a placement. Individuals seeking care at a Cygnet facility must work with their existing medical team to facilitate an assessment and subsequent admission.

Personalised Approach

Cygnet Alders Clinic is a 20-bed women’s only intensive inpatient program, individualised with a unique blend of psychotherapy and evidence-based methods to fit individual needs. They specialise in treating personality disorders, with a multidisciplinary team of specialists including a clinical manager, head of psychology, occupational therapist, activity coordinators, nurses, specialty doctors and support staff. Occupational and evidence-based methods are blended with psychotherapy and pharmacological interventions. Their personalised approach aims to address the core features of personality disorders, improving interpersonal relationships by gaining skills such as emotional regulation, self exploration, crisis management and resilience.

Once stabilised, the goal is to slowly transition back into daily life and community, with extensive discharge planning, vocational or educational support, and continuing care and relapse prevention services.

Cygnet provides a balanced approach, helping women enhance their personal and professional skills and rebuild their lives with a focus on holistic wellness.
