Just outside Savannah on a secluded 7-acre property, Front Porch Recovery is a small, men-only residential program built around the idea that connection changes everything. The gender-specific setting helps men drop the mask, feel less alone, and do the deeper work behind addiction. With a husband-and-wife team who’ve lived it, Front Porch helps men lay a strong foundation and leave with a realistic path forward.

Create a Foundation that Holds Up

Front Porch’s approach starts with a simple truth: it’s not really about the substances, it’s about why the substances helped, until they didn’t. For many clients, addiction began as a solution that worked for a while, until the cost got too high. Treatment focuses on uncovering what that strategy was protecting, soothing, or avoiding in the first place. The team builds a recovery foundation and a practical blueprint that fits the individual—because what one client reads, writes about, or works on isn’t what the next client needs.

Reset the Nervous System in Real Comfort

Set at the edge of Savannah on seven acres, the property feels secluded and quiet, with oak trees swaying over a historic home. Clients can play cornhole and horseshoes, move their bodies in the gym with weights, and go on offsite outings at least once a week. Meals are catered, chef-prepared, or cooked by clients using a meal delivery service so nourishment is consistent. And while the focus is recovery, it still feels like real life: after a 7-day blackout period, clients can regain access to electronics.

Lean on Community Long after Treatment Ends

Each client leaves with an aftercare plan tailored to their needs and what support actually looks like where they live, so the transition home feels less overwhelming. They’re also welcomed into an alumni community that stays connected: a group chat with fellow alumni and primary staff, a weekly alumni Zoom for check-ins, and an annual alumni weekend where alumni reconnect.

Turn “Normal” Moments into Breakthroughs
Turn “Normal” Moments into Breakthroughs
Therapy here doesn’t always look like therapy, and that’s the magic of it. Clients read books chosen for what they actually need, then bring their thoughts to session. Writing is part of the work too: writing letters helps emotions become visible. And sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come while doing something ‘normal’—games and strategy activities help clients build healthy responses in the moment.
Start Each Day Feeling Supported
Start Each Day Feeling Supported
Each morning starts with la carte breakfast and meds if needed. Groups kick off around 9–9:30 (think yoga, Tai Chi, mindfulness), with lunch at noon, then more groups in the afternoon. In between, there’s time for personal assignments, the gym, and helping care for the horses. Dinner lands around 6, and evenings are for group work, individual sessions, or downtime to exhale.
Mark the Milestone with Graduation Day Traditions
Mark the Milestone with Graduation Day Traditions
On graduation day, the client reaches into a box of word-etched rocks and picks one without looking, trusting the “right” word will find them. All week, peers and staff cover lanterns with notes, wishes, and favorite quotes. The client reads them out loud before lighting the lantern with the whole house there. Then the graduate chooses a lock, sets a personal code, and clips it to a rain chain to “lock in” recovery and stay connected.
Find Emotional Comfort through Animal Companionship
Find Emotional Comfort through Animal Companionship
The healing power of animals plays a vital role in the recovery journey at Front Porch. The center is pet-friendly, welcoming dogs and providing opportunities for clients to engage with therapy horses on-site. This unique aspect of the program encourages emotional connection and companionship, helping clients experience unconditional love and support.
