Insurance

Provider's Policy

Substance use insurance coverage and benefits can be multifaceted and will vary with the different insurance companies and plans. The Harris House Insurance Department has experience working with insurance providers to get our clients the maximum benefits possible. Let our staff do the work for you.

Harris House was founded in 1961 and has spent more than 50 years providing treatment for both men and women struggling with drug and alcohol addictions. Harris House acknowledges that every person is unique and may be at different phases of the healing process, thus they offer a full continuum of care including a 28-day inpatient program, PHP, IOP, medical detoxification, and sober transitional housing. The comprehensive approach Harris House has developed emphasizes the need of a personalized treatment plan. In addition to receiving treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, clients also receive training in employment skills, stress and anger management, depression, and anxiety. The IOP program is 12-Step focused, and it costs significantly less than the industry norm. Both individual and group treatment will be provided to clients. Group meetings can either be instructional or process-focused. The physiological harm that addiction causes to the body is discussed in educational groups, along with illness theory, the AA stages, trigger identification, and relapse prevention. Weekly counseling sessions involve both the family and the client. Although clients are busy with program activities everyday, Sundays are more relaxed and clients are able to enjoy free time.

Countryside Setting with Amenities

The Harris House is located in St. Louis, Missouri in a safe and secure urban area. Clients have semi-private rooms, an on-site fitness center, and chef-prepared meals. Airport pickup is provided to clients from outside St. Louis. Graduates of the program are encouraged to continue in their IOP program as needed and can receive weekly aftercare groups for a year after treatment.

Care Options

Levels of Care

Everyone's recovery journey is unique. Whether it looks like residential rehab for 30 days, an outpatient program, or virtual therapy, you can find a level of care that fits your needs.
Detox
Typically the initial stage of treatment for substance use, focusing on medically supervised management of withdrawal symptoms.
Residential Rehab
Offering intensive care with 24/7 monitoring, residential substance use treatment is typically 30 days. Length can range from 14 to 90 days.
Sober Living
Transitional housing designed to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders offering a safe, supportive and structured environment for practicing long-term sobriety, while reintegrating back into daily living.
Day Treatment
In a PHP, patients live at home but follow an intensive schedule of treatment. Most programs require you to be on-site for about 40 hours per week.
Intensive Outpatient Program
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) falls between inpatient care and traditional outpatient services, with therapy and skills-building activities designed to support recovery and provide flexibility. IOP is ideal for those needing support but not the 24/7 care of a residential facility.
Outpatient
Outpatient treatment offers flexible therapeutic and medical care without the need to stay overnight in a hospital or inpatient facility. Outpatient care typically offers a range of therapies and medical interventions individuals can attend alongside daily life.
Virtual & In-Home Care
Not Offered at This Center
The delivery of therapeutic services utilizing technology such as video conferencing, online messaging or phone calls, allowing for flexibility, comfort and increased access to care.
Co-Occurring Mental Health
Treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders, which affect the majority of individuals diagnosed, integrates care for mental health conditions with primary substance use. Personalized care plans are crafted to effectively address each condition simultaneously, optimizing the healing process.

Certified counselors help guide clients in creating individual recovery plans to treat the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. I was a client of the S.T.A.I.R.S. intensive inpatient program at Harris House. I found the program of educational groups, exposure to 12 step meetings and talk therapy in an environment that promotes "Recovery With Responsibility" gave me the tools to get my life back. I am grateful for the program and staff at Harris House and would recommend it to anyone considering an inpatient treatment facility.

They encouraged my uncle to get sober for the sake of his family. I do not recall any weaknesses I do not know the details of my uncle's treatment, but he definitely came out a changed man. He actually started focusing on his family instead of drinking all the time. The staff were all understanding and very helpful.
