Review from Rehabs.com

The only issues I had with Hazelden, was that they did not thoroughly check my bag when I arrived. I had to go to them and let them know that they had forgotten to open some pockets, so I could have easily snuck anything in. Also, they do not follow up with their patients. I see it as, "we did our job, it is now up to you to flourish, we love you, and good luck." When I walked into Hazelden in 2018, I was scared and confused, but on August 15th 2021, I will be 3 years clean and sober. I look back at my experience and I smile and sometimes close my eyes and pretend I am there. I met a lot of amazing gentlemen and I have memories that will last me a lifetime. I read some of these comments and I am shocked with all the negativity. I was probably the only African American man there, and yet it never fazed me because of how welcoming everyone was. I went from eating nothing outside of Hazelden, to eating three full meals a day, exercising, and finding a spirituality hidden deep within me that I had no clue was there. This place is obviously not for everyone, but I would reccomend it for sure.

Review from Rehabs.com

This treatment facility is excellent and the staff is well-qualified and caring. Unfortunately, I left before completing the residential portion of the program due to some PTSD issues resulting in an anxiety attack. I am home and doing well in AA and I will always be grateful for what I learned in the 2 weeks I was there. However, after I left, I found that personal items were not returned to me, including a watercolor journal with personal information, half-filled with my personal artwork. I also accidentally left behind clothing worth several hundred dollars, which they claim they cannot find. I'm left wondering whether these items were just dumped into a community pile to be picked through for clients who come in without appropriate apparel, or if I was the victim of theft while in residence. My husband and I have called three times without any luck. I will be attending AA meetings at the Bellevue location starting in January. Maybe someone there will be able to help us.

Despite the high cost, it was worth every penny. They were exceptionally flexible with treatment and the beautiful facilities helped with an atmosphere of healing. Most importantly, the recovery is segregated by gender which my qualifier considered essential and I thought was beneficial. Amazing staff and facilities. They were flexible to allow a month of outpatient for my young qualifier who wasn't ready to leave but we were at the end of our financial resources. Single sex treatment and dual diagnosis.

Now that they take insurance its a much better value. My sister went there and had a great experience. the staff is very qualified and experienced and its a lovely calm campus not far from Portland. She has some PTSD which they specialize in as well. She was able to stay for an extended amount of time which helped her. Their continuing care options were great and one of the reasons we chose this facility.

Review from Rehabs.com

Excellent material given about addiction and it's effects, causes and treatment. Great aftercare program. Best mental health treatment I've ever received anywhere. Beautiful grounds and scenery with many areas to walk and enjoy. A trip to the spa with a chance for a better life at the end of the trip. However, the cost prohibited for many. At around 30,000 for 30 day program after insurance, not including the price for any days or night spent in detox. If you wish to access the special services like massage and acupuncture or use the book store, those a paid for desperately. They are a little misleading in the billing department, take a friend or a tape recorder for later reference. They do offer a partial scholarship of 25% to some but you have to ask. Insurance is sabotaging, can change it's mind later, sticking you, or worse your cosigner, with the entire bill and instead of being able to move forward with your treatment plan. The after care model is well set up in theory, but in reality they rarely call and when you do you usually have to leave a message. You have to save half way through treatment. Meridian or low income do not have access to the extended care program of 60 days, as the total bill would be the price of a nice 2 or 3 bedroom home!! Treatment classes can get jumbled, leaving you with just partial instructions in how to recover and live with your disease or disorders. LGBTQ counselor is wonderful, but often not on site as is the situation with many of the counselors, which leaves you with a stand in one someone unfamiliar the whole picture of you, sabotaging a continuity of care feeling, and forcing you to repeat things you've already said instead

We love hearing about your treatment experience
