Review from Rehabs.com

I was at New Dawn facilities for 34 days. The detox part of the program was effective but once I was moved into residential treatment things were quite different. The treatment center is NOT handicap accessible, that was a problem for me because I have balance issues. They also need handrails leading up to the facility and more leading to the dining area that is used for communal eating. There was one woman in the home I was in that couldn't make it to the dining room at all. The chefs had to be reminded to make her a plate for every meal and if they forgot sometimes she didn't get an acceptable meal. The food was NOT gourmet by any means as was claimed in the literature available at the facility and online. It was barely edible at times. There were times when people went hungry because not enough food was prepared for all the residents they had. I also told them several times that the feet of the bed were not visible and I kept hitting my toes on it. The room was very small but it wasn't until I broke my toe that something was done... they moved me into a larger room but they did not address the real problem. The last week I was there was totally unacceptable. I am diabetic and had a small injury on one of my fingers (a torn cuticle) I have small alcohol prep wipes for insulin injections but they wouldn't let me use them outside of the med office. I tried to explain the importance of not letting it get infected. By the time they remembered I was diabetic it was infected and I had to take a course of antibiotics. On my last Sunday there I was late for my morning medications. The woman in the office refused to give them to me and I got upset. I asked her for them again and again she said no. These medications were for high blood pressure and diabetes plus my antibiotic. Another woman who works there came to talk to me about it and offered me medication to lower my blood pressure but NOT the medication prescribed by my physician. I told them I was going to go home that afternoon. At that point I felt they couldn't provide the level of care I needed for my other health issues. I am happy to say the program is working for me at this point. I am 54 days sober and am taking it one day at a time. Thanks to the staff who helped me get here.

Review from Rehabs.com

I just think all rehabs need to lower costs or have a way of paying a diff way or something to do with insurance, because face it drug addicts don't have the money even though they want that help and not all family's are rich. I don't think its fair at all. I think they need more one on one sessions and or have sessions with the people that are addicted to the same thing as well as group sessions. I liked it there, if I was able to stay longer or even continue with IOP I think i might have made it sober.

The staff was incredibly caring, beyond supportive and honestly cared that the clients were well taken of and were happy and comfortable. As pleasant as an experience it could be under the circumstances. The food was wonderful, and a close knit community was created.
