About Centra Health - Pathways Addiction and Recovery Services
Located just off Oak Lane, within the Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital complex in Lynchburg, the center provides outpatient and residential treatment for adults with substance use disorders (SUD), including those with depression, anxiety, or trauma. They also offer specialized care for pregnant and postpartum women. Clients receive support through group sessions, counseling, relapse prevention planning, and individualized care tailored to their needs.
Treatment Structure and Medication Support
Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) runs 3 hours a day, 4 days a week for 6–8 weeks, with morning and evening options to fit around work and family schedules. IOP combines therapy, counseling, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and medication management. MAT uses evidence-based medications such as suboxone, vivitrol, naltrexone, sublocade, and wellbutrin alongside counseling to support recovery. Residential care provides a full-day schedule with therapy, MAT support, wellness activities, and 12-step meetings, helping clients build consistent routines and develop coping skills.
Supportive Services and Perinatal Care
Clients also join activities such as exercise, yoga, art, and therapeutic outings to support well-being. Staff provide screenings for mental health, hepatitis, and HIV, along with care coordination for social needs. For pregnant and postpartum women, perinatal services include group therapy, weekly individual counseling, and personalized treatment planning, with referrals accepted from OBGYNs, social workers, DSS, or counselors.
