Review from Rehabs.com

They don’t allow every child to eat and will shut communication off without talking to the family or telling the family their is even an issue! My sister has been there since about 1 am this morning and only ate a bag of chips! She was also told she could sleep in by the nurse who brought her back since she hadn’t slept in 2 days and then the staff this morning all yelled at her and told her she wasn’t allowed to sleep in! They pushed her so much with the negativity they were showing her that it made her have a breakdown on the phone after she was finally able to call my mom! They were punishing her for sleeping in till 11 and wouldn’t let her call HER OWN MOTHER till 6 ish this afternoon. My sister my mom and I have been trying to get ahold of her a lot of the day today and they refused to let her talk!!! Later to find out again when they finally let her call my mom that “the staff kept telling me ‘your sister is trying to talk to you’ ‘your mom is trying to talk to you’” rubbing it in her face that they won’t allow her to call! When my mom finally got her call my sister was breaking down bawling about how everyone is so rude to her and no one is helping! She has been through a very traumatic experience and the staff would rather yell at my mom and I about her sleeping in than addressing the fact that she WAS NEVER FED and THEY WANT TO CUT OFF COMMUNICATION WITH THE FAMILY WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE FAMILY!! When I called the lady I spoke to started yelling at me saying they don’t allow sleeping in unless a doctor approves it and my sister told us the nurse who brought her back did! I was calm and told her they needed to be patient and kind with their patients. Honestly in my head I was thinking “if they really talk to me like this I can’t believe the way they talk to their patients” she eventually yelling and just said “hold on”. Then I was rerouted to a staff member who told me she would look into it and call me back and make sure that my sister got food and that she was ok. I NEVER GOT A CALL! I then called again about 45-60 minutes later. After being on hold for 45 minutes someone answered and hung up! I had to call again and finally someone answered right away he said he was going to make sure she was fed and ok. It should not have taken 3 hours for my sister to eat dinner! She was up when everyone else was for dinner! They clearly have no communication skills and for a place that works with mental health patients you would think they would know better and treat people better! DO NOT go here it’s horrible and only makes you worse! My sister came in saying she was going to try and get the help she needed just for less than 24 hours later to breakdown saying she wants to come home! It’s truly heartbreaking the amount of disrespect this staff shows! I am so sorry to anyone who has more trauma because of this place! IF YOU ARE GOING TO WORK IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIELD LEARN TO SHOW KINDNESS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE AT A LOW POINT IN THEIR LIFE!

Good place. But if you're going for detox you might as well detox at home. The check in time is horrendous.

My first year of sobriety is completed. I tried 5 times before UBC and eventually went back to drinking. This time I succeeded. Every day has been a choice; to become someone I can be proud of, or return to misery. I'm also sending my thanks to the counselors, who made it possible for my success. They are terrific people, who care. I will be forever thankful.
