I did not care for this facility at all. I lasted one week before I didnt feel safe there any longer. That one week managed to keep me sober for 4 years. All because I never ever wanted to go back to this place. The buildings are old, dark, and stink

Review from Rehabs.com

My husband's drinking was destroying him, our marriage, and family. We live in Florida, but his parents lived in Washington. We planned an intervention and he was admitted to Milam Recovery in Kirkland. He is 10 years sober this month. First of all this is not a resort or spa. This is a rehab facility people. They are not there to kiss your behind, but to save it. The counselors, are not "mean" they are direct and firm. Alcoholics and addicts need structure, discipline, and someone to get real with them. They are not going to baby you. If you are there it's because you need to be there. No, the food isn't the best, but again your not there for the food. The family group sessions were I felt very helpful. I recommend you take them. No, your not allowed to have electronics, because your there to get well, not update your Twitter, and Facebook account. This is a distraction from your treatment. No, there is no sugar or caffeine. The lack of these help your body detox. Yes, they will search your bags when you go in. Almost half of the people my husband was with tried to smuggle drugs or alcohol in. Imagine that, addicts smuggling contraband in. This is for your own good. Yes, you have to attend AA meetings daily. to reinforce your treatment/counseling. Yes, you are asked to attend after care meetings. Again, these are to help you, when your out on your own. In my opinion most to the negative reviews are people whining because staff are mean, they had to follow the rules, the food was not 5 star quality, their beds were not comfy, People get real. I'll admit the place could use an update, it is a little dated and dark, (at least when he was there) however your there for treatment for addiction. My husband has kept in touch with several of the people he was in with most of them are still sober or clean. So I think that is what speaks volumes, in my opinion. From my own personal experience Milam saved his life and that was all I cared about.

Review from Rehabs.com

My counselor read me like a book. I would say, the counselors are the strength. I really can't think of any weakness, it worked for me!! I was a patient back in 2004. I put myself into Lakeside. I had excellent family support, as well as great support from my counselor. I have recommended Lakeside to 2 individuals whom asked me where I did my treatment. I believe, if you are sick and tired of the way your life is, because of the alcohol or drugs that your addicted to, and you've admitted to yourself, that it's time to get help, Lakeside-Milam has the tools to give you. They will work hard to help you to help yourself, to get clean and sober, and they will teach you the tools that you will need to use once you are discharged from their facility. They also have an amazing follow-up program.

Review from Rehabs.com

Lakeside Milam is a joke! straight up the worst treatment center I could have ever imagined. Before going, I specifically askede if it was a medical detox and was told it was... I was so sick the entire time. I even lost 10lbs in 10 days because I was so sick from withdrawing and couldn't stomach the disgusting food. It was old, dark, and dingy, and the beds were very uncomfortable. After 14 days of pure heck, I had to leave. Since I was leaving the program early, they refused to let me take any of my belongings and told me I could return in 24 hours to pick up my things. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, it's a joke. Also, there were over 100 patients which made me feel very uncomfortable.

We love hearing about your treatment experience
