Located on the peaceful Belmont campus of McLean Hospital, inside the historic Bowditch Building, this program supports young adults ages 18 to 28. It treats anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), along with related struggles like anxiety and depression. Care is offered at both residential and partial hospital levels, just outside Boston’s reach with access to calm neighborhoods and green spaces.

Klarman Eating Disorders Center uses a personalized and collaborative treatment approach. Each patient follows a therapeutic contract that outlines goals and progress. Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy help individuals understand emotions, build healthy habits, and improve self-esteem.

Strengthen Recovery Through Experience

Patients also benefit from expressive arts sessions, yoga, and animal-assisted therapy including equine work. Family involvement is central through therapy and education. Unique features include restaurant outings, academic tutoring for students, and identity exploration. Klarman emphasizes smooth transitions back home through strong relapse prevention and life-skills support.

Residential
Residential eating disorder treatment provides intensive medical and therapeutic care in a safe, structured setting with 24/7 monitoring, meal-time support, therapy, and services for weight restoration as needed.
Day Treatment
In a PHP, patients live at home but follow an intensive schedule of treatment. Most programs require you to be on-site for about 40 hours per week.
Outpatient
