Gender-specific Care
Nestled beside the gorgeous Powell River on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, Miklat Recovery Society provides residential drug and alcohol therapy. Miklat means "refuge," and the goal of our program is to provide men with a safe haven from the storms of addiction. It is also a place where men who are recovering from the ravages of a drug use disorder may find encouragement, inspiration, and useful resources. Clients can enjoy an intimate 10-bed home, with access to nature and fishing and hiking trips on weekends.
Life Skills Training
Clients at Miklat Recovery Society will start to establish and maintain a daily routine that includes personal hygiene, household duties, prayers, quick readings, group therapy, moderate exercise, cooking and eating three balanced, healthy meals per day, learning about the nature of addiction, attending 12 Step meetings, and exploring their lives. Miklat Recovery Society offers group and individual therapy, CBT, EMDR, music therapy, and more. Their program also incorporates 12 Step meetings and introduction to spiritual principles, SMART Recovery meetings, peer-based therapeutic groups, relapse prevention, anger management, and various subjects introduced by qualified counsellors.
