About Pine River Institute
The live-in treatment facility and outdoor leadership program Pine River Institute, which serves kids between the ages of 13 and 19, is the only one of its type in Canada. PRI, a facility close to Shelburne, Ontario, combines treatment with a rigorously recognized educational curriculum to reinforce the positive life skills necessary for future success. Some of their program highlights include family therapy, adventure therapy, animal therapy, and equine therapy. Additionally, clients engage in recreational activities such as volleyball, music making, basketball, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and physical fitness. Treatment occurs in several phases, beginning with inpatient care and ending in outpatient. At Pine River Institute, adolescents and their families are guided through care for substance use and other mental health conditions.
