Very little intensive therapy. Didactic large groups were not very engaging. A lot of unstructured time and no small group discussion groups. Virtually no individualized treatment. Vulgar language not discouraged. Primitive counsellors without obvious expertise. Poor value for the cost. I suggest that people look for alternatives to Renascent.

In 2022 Renescent saved my life. It is a very different program now in 2026. It uses the Safety Seeking model which research shows has good results for PTSD but small results for addiction. Seeking safety is based on Safety groups typically: follow a manualized format, rely on brief check-ins, avoid deep emotional exploration, limit cross-talk and relational processing, prioritize stability over insight. Unfortunately this eliminate the wonderful connection and sense of community that was so important for my recovery. I left after 1.5 weeks as I found that it was making me worse. I have been largely sober over 4 years with a small relapse every 6-12 months. I wanted to deal with that. Loneliness is a trigger in HALT. And the program now leaves you feeling disconnected.
