Review from Rehabs.com

My parents talked me into going to A Forever Recovery 9 months ago, and it’s ended up being the great thing I could have ever done. I’ve gone to my parents many times over the years for help. It always amazes me that no matter how many times I’ve asked for help or how much I’ve put them through, they have always stuck by me, supported me and helped me get treatment. I’ve been trying to stop using ever since I first started and I’ve been to rehab many, many times trying to quit. Some of them rehabs did help me a bit, some of them didn’t and were a complete waste of time. In the beginning of my addiction I was pretty optimistic about my recovery. If I relapsed it was upsetting but, I didn’t have a problem trying again. Eventually, I became less and less optimistic until I didn’t see a point in trying to get sober. When my parents first told me about AFR I didn’t see a reason why they should waste their money on something I was sure wasn’t going to help. I was at a point in my life where I was close to giving up. I wasn’t suicidal, just so tired of the life I’d been living and truthfully, I might not have been suicidal but, I wasn’t that far away from thinking that killing myself was the best thing for everyone. So, the first time my parents told me about AFR and talked about me going there, I told them no. They kept on me about going to AFR and eventually I gave in and agreed to go. I still thought going to AFR was pointless and I didn’t want to get my parents hopes up because I truly thought that I was beyond help. I got to AFR 9 months ago and amazingly, I loved it there. Being at AFR was a lot easier for me than I’d expected. The staff in detox were amazing and helped make my detox easier. Most people who work in a drug rehab do so because they want to help people. The problem I’ve always had is that no matter how good their intentions are, there’s still a disconnect because they don’t have any experience. At least I always felt that way. There are staff at AFR who have been addicted to drugs themselves so that disconnect just isn’t there. Having someone to talk to who’d been through it all made a big difference to me. They have the SMART program at AFR and it’s the first time I’ve done that program. They do offer other programs at AFR but, I’ve done enough 12-step programs to know that it wasn’t for me. The fact that at AFR I was able to do a program that interested me, instead of doing the same program as everyone else was something that I really liked about AFR. Another thing that really helped me was that I was able to stay at AFR for 2 months. I’ve done 60-day programs in the past and relapsed right away but, the combination of the program I did, the staff working there and the fact that I stayed as long as I did made going to AFR the best and most helpful experience I’ve had while working to get sober. It still amazes me how much going to AFR helped me. 9 months ago, I went to AFR, I stayed for 2 months and I’ve been home for 7 months now and I haven’t used. Staying sober in rehab is easy. There’s nothing there to distract or tempt you so if you have a craving it’s easy enough to push it aside. When you get home and have a craving, that’s completely different. It can be really hard not to give in to those cravings. While going through the SMART program at AFR, I learned how to deal with those cravings, and it’s been a huge part of why I’m still sober.

My brother was struggling to stay sober so much before he went to A Forever Recovery. Before going there he'd been to 5 rehabs in a 2 year period and he wasn't having any luck staying sober after finishing treatments. Going to AFR he got the tools he needed to get and actually stay sober. The programs they have are definitely a strength. My brother was able to choose the program he wanted to do out of the multiple chooses he had there. The staff were incredible with him and made the whole experience for him. I'm sure they have a few weaknesses, no place is perfect. However there wasn't much my brother complained about while he was there and nothing that actually matters in the end.

Review from Rehabs.com

All approaches to drug and alcohol addiction are completely different and this center really understands that. They understand that not everyone is struggling with the same issues as the person sitting next to them in treatment and with knowing that comes a more diverse and well rounded center for those that are attending so that the care they provide is unlike any other out there. In order for someone to get to the point of sobriety they have to fully understand and have clarity on what their underlying issues are as an individual and know what areas to work on as a whole in order for the process to work. Some things that may factor into the difference of a program for an individual circumstances are their religious beliefs, substance that they are using and current lifestyle that they may have. This center truly understands that we all need individualized counseling and guidance on a personal level and not just in a group setting as we all do not relate to what one another is going through. Everything is tailored to fit the specific needs of what is going on in the lives of one another around them and we are gt the one on one help we are needing to get to the level of understanding that we need in order to be successful here. I worked personally with my counselor on a one on one basis and I also was actively involved with my group sessions as it opened up my eyes to things that others were dealing with around me to help me with my own [personal issues as well. All in all this center helped me to get my life back and I am going to be forever grateful.

Review from Rehabs.com

When I decided to go to A Forever Recovery, I was ready to start a new life. I was determined to put the past behind and learn how to live my life without drugs. That’s exactly what I got from going to AFR, I learned how to navigate my life and my choices so that I wouldn’t fall back into the trap of drug use again. The tools I learned throughout my program are the reason that I’m still sober today. It’s been 6 months since I finished my program at AFR and I’m stable. By going through the program at AFR I learned so much about myself. I learned why I had been making the choices I was making and learned how to spot when things were getting harder in my life and to take a step back so that I didn’t fall into the same trap of using when I wasn’t happy or anything like that. When I was going through my program, I decided that going back home wouldn’t be great for me. I could have done it and stayed sober with what I learned at AFR but, because I had family in Colorado I decided to ask for help. Asking for help has always been hard for me. Whenever I asked for help from friends or family I felt like a failure and so wouldn’t do it. I was trying to do everything on my own and it wasn’t working for me. Going through my program at AFR helped me to realize that asking for help from my family wasn’t me failing but, getting support. So, I asked my aunt and uncle for their help and they’ve been amazing. My parents fully supported my decision to move away from them because it meant that I had a better chance at living a sober life. Since graduating from AFR and moving I’ve started working. I got a job 5 days after arriving in Colorado and I’ve been making it to work every day and I’m actually on time for it. I’m paying my own bills and everything else that comes with being an adult. Like I said earlier, I’m stable. Going from where I was before I went to AFR to where I am now since graduating is really great. I would have never imagined my life like this. Before I went to AFR I was positive that I was a drug addict and that I’d always be a drug addict, that I’d never beat my addiction and so I didn’t try very hard to beat it. Being around the people at AFR helped me to see that even though my life had been completely derailed by my addiction, going through the program and using what I learned there could and would give me my life back. The counselors at AFR helped me a lot throughout my program. Sometimes, it was just having someone to talk to about how my program was going or helping me deal with some issue I was having. Sometimes, it was the counselors calling me on my rubbish and not letting me get away with something that I’d have liked to have gotten away with at the time but, would’ve hindered my recovery. AFR isn’t on some busy street. It’s set back a way next to a lake and that privacy and serene atmosphere helped during my stay there. I was able to take a step back from my life, learn what I needed to learn and fix what I needed to fix so that I could start my new life without any extra baggage. I’m grateful for the time I spent at AFR, I’m a healthy, sober person now because I went there and it’s a rehab that I’d recommend to anyone needing help.

Review from Rehabs.com

When I sent my daughter to A Forever Recovery, I was hoping it was as good as the reviews made it out to be. I prayed that this one place would be able to change my daughter’s life in ways that the other rehabs she’s been to were not able to. When my daughter started using heroin 10 years ago, things got bad so much quicker than I could have ever anticipated. It doesn’t take long to become addicted to opiates, something I saw firsthand with my daughter. For these last 10 years, I have sent my daughter to rehab after rehab, so much so that rehab had become somewhat of a joke to her. After the first few rehabs failed to help her make any kind of personal improvement, she started taking rehab less and less seriously while her dad and I were continuously more and more devasted at her lack of recovery. From when I first started talking to someone at AFR about my daughter I was impressed with the staff there. I wasn’t sure how effective AFR would be as a recovery center but, I still wanted my daughter to go there because it’s the first place I’d found that didn’t treat drug addiction and rehabilitation as everyone else. It was refreshing having someone so earnest and helpful to talk to about my daughter and getting her into treatment. Once I’d decided to send her there, they helped me get her in there quickly and when I dropped her off at the center, I was impressed with the level of care they showed her. Throughout these years and the many rehabs my daughter’s been to, she has wanted to get clean, she just stopped believing that any rehab could help her and so stopped putting the effort into doing the programs. She started going to rehab just to humor her dad and I but she had no faith that it would work. It started out differently at AFR for her because of the level of care and compassion the showed her. Before she even started her detox, the staff talked with her and somewhere during the explanation she gave them of her addiction and the explanation they gave her about their program and what she’d be doing while she was there she started having a guarded hope that AFR would be a different experience. During her program the staff were very patient with her. They understood her reluctance to open up with them and they worked with her until she felt comfortable enough to open up. They helped my daughter to become a better person and how to live her life without using drugs as a crutch when things didn’t go her way. She learned how to keep herself clean because the program she was doing interested her and she could understand the philosophy behind the program. A Forever Recovery has the best collection of staff that I’ve come across in all the years that I’ve searched, called and put my daughter in rehab and the difference in how AFR is run staffed made all the difference in my daughter’s recovery. This time when my daughter came home, she did so with a confidence in herself that I hadn’t seen since before she ever started using drugs. It’s amazing to see the progress she made while she was at AFR and the progress she continues to make since getting home. When she got home, she didn’t slow down or stop trying to improve her life. She’s using what she learned at AFR to make a better life and a better future for herself. I knew before my daughter went to AFR that she wouldn’t live much longer if she didn’t get the help she needed. When I sent her to AFR it was with true desperation, just hoping and praying that it would work but fearing what would happen if it didn’t. Now though, because of AFR I have my daughter back, and back in a way that is so much better than I could have ever imagined.
