Amethyst is one of the only long-term residential rehabs in the state of Ohio that allows children to stay with their mothers during treatment. In addition to helping homeless women confront and overcome substance abuse, the facility empowers its clients by teaching them appropriate parenting and coping skills, and helping them find permanent housing and employment. Utilizing a distinctive, gender-specific treatment model, Amethyst focuses on the roles that poverty and trauma play in drug and alcohol abuse in women.

Review from Rehabs.com

Pros: This program provided me safety after escaping an abusive relationship with my child, I was able to move from the DV shelter to Amethyst housing within 2-3mo. The program is intensive daily group therapy. It's focus is allowing yourself to be vulnerable ane giving yourself permission to heal. The entry/hope phase counselors are the best they have to offer. Both of those counselors have made life changing impacts on my way of thinking. Cons: However, the housing side of things has changed drastically and not exactly for the better. Single women are no longer provided their own apartment. They are assigned mandatory room mates. Which isn't the worst thing, in my opinion. But due to this, if you have children and/or are pregnant, they WILL tell you that you will be called back and have to wait. Which is reprehensible, seeing as the facility was founded to help women keep and improve their families. It makes me fear the priority of funding given for two people in one apartment is superceding the core values that the program once upheld. Advisory: Also, pay attention. Ask your case manager questions. They will help you get Title 20 for your child for childcare. However, when the program is over they often don't tell you how to take your case back over and will cause conflict with ODJFS, Title 20 and create a lapse in child care. I was not informed that I needed to let them know when I left the program and it caused me to lose my child care. They also don't have much help or assistance with helping clients find housing. Many figure these things out through their probation program (Catch Court, etc.) and they once had apartments reserved for graduates who needed them. This is much more unlikely now. So be diligent in signing up for housing lists, waiting lists, etc. So hopefully when your maximum 18 months are up, someone will have reached you with an offer. Good luck. The program is what you make it. Be ready to face yourself and do the workm

A great addiction treatment facility. They offer long term individual housing for women and their children. Treatment consists of individual and group therapy, educational sessions pertinent to addiction, trauma, mental health, holistic care, EMDR, yoga, parenting and employment. They helped me put my life back together, supported me while I made those first steps into a life of recovery, and taught me me tools to keep my life free of addiction. I could not have survived and now thrived without the help they offered.

Health and safety classes were good. Too much fussing among groups. Very good facility but it is for women only.

They gave me the tools to be successful and I chose to relapse because I held back and didn't discuss the things I have been through. They provided all I needed to live. I needed long term treatment to get of meth.
