The SOAR Program at Children’s Home of York offers 24/7 psychiatric residential treatment for youth ages 13-18 facing trauma, emotional challenges, or behavioral health needs. Grounded in Sanctuary principles, SOAR helps teens build self-worth, life skills, and trust through structured care and personalized treatment plans. Each youth is supported in healing and preparing to return home and thrive.

Gain Tools to Understand Yourself

SOAR uses a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach guided by Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Teens engage in evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy, expressive arts, affect regulation, and pet therapy. These therapies, combined with skill-building in areas like self-esteem and healthy relationships, give each youth the tools to grow emotionally and socially.

Find Calm in Every Color

Teens also gain life skills in cooking, money management, and cultural awareness while attending on-site school through a partnership with Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12. The ANGEL Center features a Snoezelen Room–a multi-sensory, customizable space that helps youth calm their minds and regulate emotions. This supportive environment encourages confidence, connection, and lasting healing.
