The team at Cygnet is dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience and atmosphere, with specialised high support inpatient rehabilitation for women experiencing mental illness, with a focus on achieving community reintegration. Ideal candidates have a mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia, mood or personality disorders, bipolar, and depression, who have previous failed treatment attempts, or who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their program is best suited for women with a primary mental illness diagnosis, who may be enduring complex co-occurring disorders including substance abuse, a mild learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or may require long-term care for acute mental health needs. Women may have a history of treatment resistance, complex comorbidities, or are victims of sexual or domestic violence.

Admission to Cygnet Health Care is not open to direct self-referral; the organization does not accept patients who contact the facilities directly to arrange their own treatment. As a primary partner to the NHS and local authorities, Cygnet Health Care operates almost exclusively through professional referrals funded by public health bodies. Prospective patients require a formal referral from a licensed healthcare provider, such as a General Practitioner (GP), social worker, or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), to secure a placement. Individuals seeking care at a Cygnet facility must work with their existing medical team to facilitate an assessment and subsequent admission.

Their program utilises various therapies like psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and other complementary therapies for a personalised approach. The programs at Cygnet emphasise patient-centred care by actively involving patients in their treatment plans, and all aspects of life while recovering.

Community Rehabilitation

Cygnet’s Raglan House location provides rehabilitation services (level 2), designed as a transitional program that provides a high level of support for up to 25 women. Their safe, home-like environment promotes mental health and recovery for women by focusing on space, personal privacy, and dignity. Amenities include en-suite bedrooms, a therapy kitchen, various activity areas, communal living and dining areas, an internet cafe, gym, salon, and an enclosed garden,

The convenient location is strategically within close proximity of many off-site amenities to aid in rehabilitation, such as libraries, colleges, shops, a 24-hour gym and supermarkets, and various places of worship.

With a blend of occupational therapy, psychology and clinical interventions, Cygnet Raglan House provides a balanced approach, helping women enhance their personal and professional skills and rebuild their lives.
