Wellspring is a long-term residential program for teen girls with mental, relational, and emotional concerns. Founded in 1977, Wellspring is a non-profit organization that is accredited by the Joint Commission, verifying that they meet the highest standards of care. The program integrates therapeutic services with academic preparatory courses at the on-campus Arch Bridge School, providing the girls with essential resources and guided experiences to develop healthy relationships with staff, peers, and their parents.

Relationally-Based Treatment

Wellspring offers treatments for girls with mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance abuse. The program specializes in providing relationally based treatments, including individual and group therapies, family therapy and support groups. Additionally, the care team provides medication monitoring, expressive arts therapy, adventure and recreation based therapies, mindfulness therapy, and academic programming through the Arch Bridge School. The school blends treatment services with academic rigor, while providing teens with a safe and comfortable environment for growth. A student’s performance at the school serves as a key indicator of their readiness to return home. As part of the discharge process, staff can provide support to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition back to their original schools.

Welcoming Environment

Located in Bethlehem, Connecticut, the main campus of Wellspring spans 15 acres and includes two residential programs for teen girls. The Beauvais Program, housed in a welcoming farmhouse, offers 19 beds for girls ages 13 to 18, while the Shiloah Program, situated in a comfortable home, provides 8 beds for girls ages 12 to 16. Perennial gardens, pastures, and a barn that houses the animal program with goats, bunnies, and chickens is easily accessible for residents. Teens are expected to walk independently to their classes at the Arch Bridge School and to activities at the Dodds Center for Arts and Athletics, fostering both a sense of responsibility and trust. Some off-campus activities that are offered include hiking, swimming, horseback riding, camping, amusement parks, museum visits, and adventure-based outings. The average length of stay is between 12 and 18 months.
