Star Guides Wilderness
About Star Guides Wilderness
Star Guides Wilderness is a unique treatment program designed for adolescents. They treat sexual addictions including pornography, voyeurism, sexual abuse, fetishes, sexual promiscuity, among other addictions and co-occurring disorders. Separate adolescent programs are available for girls and boys, where small gender-specific groups allow for individualized care and supervision.
Unplug from Technology
In a typical program at Star Guides, teens spend 100-120 days camping in the wilderness. Students learn responsibility and are expected to set up their own shelter, plan their own menu, cook for themselves, clean up, and care for their own gear. Teens also go on a 2 to 8 mile hike each day. Their group hikes allow for physical and mental challenges, plus the opportunity to explore Utah’s high desert.
Learning New Skills
Star Guides Wilderness is a 3-phase program During the program, teens learn wilderness skills like building shelters, cooking over fire, tying different kinds of knots, identifying constellations, and many other survival skills. Writing an autobiography, compiling a sexual history, participating in group therapy sessions, and writing to family are all part of the therapy tasks Star Guides requires. Students receive individual therapy sessions twice per week and group therapy on a daily basis. Star Guides Wilderness is Joint Commission accredited and accepts insurance.
