Steps Recovery Center is a dual diagnosis treatment program specializing in the treatment of both mental health and substance use disorders including addiction, alcoholism, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Steps Recovery serves the entire state of Utah including St George, Utah County, and Salt Lake County. They provide a full continuum of care including medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), aftercare services, and a specialized program geared to the specific needs of veterans and military personnel.

Client's level of care is determined after an initial assessment. Clients then move through a series of treatment levels that provide the best possible outcome for their unique situation. Steps Recovery utilizes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI) along with holistic therapies like art therapy, music therapy, and recreational therapy. They also aim to educate both the client and their family members about the disease of addiction by providing family counseling and weekly meetings.

Those on the pathway to recovery will find a comfortable, peaceful environment at Steps Recovery. Residential treatment is located in Draper, St George, and Payson, Utah while outpatient care is located in Murray, Saint George, and Orem, Utah. Residential facilities are up-scale with plenty of amenities to enjoy like a basketball court, frisbee golf, manicured gardens, a fire pit, and much more.

Steps Recovery Centers strive to provide a culture that is centered on helping the clients and their family members regain hope and long-lasting recovery.

Care Options

Levels of Care

Everyone's recovery journey is unique. Whether it looks like residential rehab for 30 days, an outpatient program, or virtual therapy, you can find a level of care that fits your needs.
Detox
Typically the initial stage of treatment for substance use, focusing on medically supervised management of withdrawal symptoms.
Residential Rehab
Offering intensive care with 24/7 monitoring, residential substance use treatment is typically 30 days. Length can range from 14 to 90 days.
Sober Living
Transitional housing designed to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders offering a safe, supportive and structured environment for practicing long-term sobriety, while reintegrating back into daily living.
Day Treatment
In a PHP, patients live at home but follow an intensive schedule of treatment. Most programs require you to be on-site for about 40 hours per week.
Intensive Outpatient Program

Virtual & In-Home Care
Not Offered at This Center
The delivery of therapeutic services utilizing technology such as video conferencing, online messaging or phone calls, allowing for flexibility, comfort and increased access to care.
Co-Occurring Mental Health
Treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders, which affect the majority of individuals diagnosed, integrates care for mental health conditions with primary substance use. Personalized care plans are crafted to effectively address each condition simultaneously, optimizing the healing process.

I went through the Payson, UT and St George, UT facilities. The activities, staff, and facilities are great. The program accommodates all walks of life. Whether you are a high-functioning workaholic or came in from the shelter, Steps can help you find your path to a life without drugs and alcohol.

Inpatient treatment was so-so. I met with my therapist four times in the forty five plus days I was there. I specifically told them I wanted EMDR therapy and got ONE session. I was emotionally triggered and bullied by other patients and the therapist I told, turned the other patients on me. Watched as they bullied me and did nothing to help, even though I was in a place that I could not defend myself. I love that therapist for what they could possibly do to help but seriously choose the wrong path. IOP night class is seriously a joke, got absolutely nothing out of it. Just go to AA meetings.

This facility is amazing. I came here once in 2017 and again in 2020. The program has evolved and is absolutely spectacular as of 2020. I can’t describe the feeling of home that I felt walking through the doors. The clients and staff were so welcoming. The treatment program was above and beyond. From the psychiatric care to the therapists and case managers. They created a plan just for me and I have never felt as good and confident in my sobriety as I do now. I owe my life to Steps Recovery.

I absolutely love this program. Incredible staff that are in it for the right reasons. When I was struggling to make it work financially they helped me find a solution.

Review from Rehabs.com

I checked into this facility July of 2017, I was lied to right from the beginning. I was in and out of the hospital because of medical issues detoxing. When my husband would call to check on me they would lie to him. The counselors with 1 exception were terrible as well as the staff. Rude doesn’t even began to describe the staffs attitudes. My meds were ALWAYS messed up. When I went back to pick up my belongings because they wouldn’t take me back after my last hospital visit my stuff (what I did get back) was thrown into black trash bags (including my glasses). I'd NEVER seen such a crappy way to treat people with the exception of jail. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. SO glad Steps kicked out so I found a great rehab that actually showed compassion and love to help me be clean and sober today!!!
