Former Client

Still early stage in my recovery but it was unimaginable that I could stay sober for over a month after staying at The Cabin for 4 weeks, which never happened over the past years. This review is out of gratitude. Clients were from all over the world with different personalities, needs and sources of motivation. It would be unreasonable to expect a perfect program for everyone. The program at The Cabin was not focused on perfectionism but to create a community that facilitates connection among human beings with personalized counseling for each unique individual. Everyone was doing their best: admission team, counselors, nurses, support office, fitness team, security guards, canteen team and all staff. The program was well structured and provided comprehensive solutions. One could benefit as much as he/she was willing to. The inpatient and outpatient programs could be called intensive but they were not imposing and just trying to be reassuring. There was no doubt an element of indulging retreat experience from the ever-changing international cuisine, accommodation services and excursions, which was most likely one would expect of staying at The Cabin. Most importantly it provided an option to get off the train of addictions and a support network for the journey ahead.

My 30 days at The Cabin were truly profound and life-changing. The programme was exceptionally well-organised and delivered by an outstanding clinical team. The level of care from everyone – counsellors, doctors, nurses, and the wonderful support, hospitality, and housekeeping teams – went above and beyond. I saw each client treated with respect, without judgement or prejudice. The Cabin was fully booked during my stay, with a waitlist. They were clearly very selective about who they admitted in order to create a welcoming and harmonious environment, which is important for recovery. There was one client who was particularly disruptive, causing distractions for others’ recovery processes. However, the situation was handled quickly and with sensitivity. That client was placed under stronger supervision, and the matter was resolved respectfully, which I was truly impressed with. A month has passed since I left The Cabin, and I’m still actively working on my recovery. I’m planning to return after three months of sobriety for a shorter stay to take two additional modules from the programme. I’m thinking of it as a reward to myself for maintaining my sobriety. This was my first time in rehab, and I cannot imagine a better place to start this new, healthier chapter of my life.
