I was an inpatient of the meadows 8 years ago . It saved my life and my family. I was severely codependent and suffering from PTSD . Everyone single person at the meadows works together to heal and give you the tools to live a more meaningful life. Your peers are also part of your journey and recovery and support system. I still struggle and have to work hard at it . I’m grateful to g-d for giving me the chance and ability to have been a patient of the meadow and I try to continue to connect to all the wonderful alumni activities they have. Thank you g-d Thank you everyone at the meadows. Thank you my peers for saving my life and giving me tools to deal with life. Brenda S spring 2015

Review from Rehabs.com

I sent my 19 son the The Meadows. He went screaming and kicking with depression and mania episodes . I had tried everything else, years of therapy, Psychiatrists and different treatments. When I arrived for family week, my son met with with open arms and said “ thank you mom. This is the best thing you’ve ever done for me.” The Meadows had properly diagnosed him and medicated him. Yes, it was very expensive (especially for a single mother) but I thank them everyday. My son is now 25. He has taken full responsibility for his mental health since leaving The Meadows. He is a successful professional and speaks highly of his experience there. It literally saved his life and our family. Thank you to the amazing staff who helped him and helped me as well.

All masters level clinicians and above, full time MD, psychiatrists, focus is on treating the whole person. Able to treat co occurring disorders not just say they do. Beautiful atmosphere and supportive community. Many different testaments available, truly individualized. I guess the rooms could be more posh if that's what is most important for you. I didn't always like the food but it was healthy. This really is the best place for treatment. I've tried others and they never offered enough to help my entire person recover. I see many things written here that are just not true. It's a great place to save your life if you're willing. This experience changed my entire life experience and I couldn't be more grateful.

Review from Rehabs.com

After a series of events leading to some resurfacing of old traumas, I decided it would be time I go to The Meadows for their famous Survivors 1 workshop. After speaking with the intake representative for an hour and giving them my history and current situation they said they would discuss my application with the clinical director (Jean Collins-Stuckert) who agreed it would be a good fit. This was my experience: 1. The workshop itself has essentially become more of a seminar. The first 2-3 days are a series of lectures on family/attachment systems etc (Information that can be learned by picking up almost any book on the subject) Plus some homework. 2. The “Experiential Phase” (the actual emotional work) is just 1 day and has been watered-down to what resembles talk therapy with some contrived and cushy symbolic affirmations rather than any real ‘guts’ work 3. The facilitator offered little to no flexibility for how I expressed to be able to do my work and insisted on his particular canned method and wording. And after I explicitly asked him to not feed me any words that were not my own 4. As I finally began doing the work and get into my body I was abruptly stopped in middle and the facilitator ended the session for the day. He then told me that I had a regressive episode and that I had too much trauma for that setting and that it was not safe for me to continue. He suggested I speak with the clinical director about alternative options. 5. Within 25 minutes I was in the directors office and she was up selling their 45 day treatment program and asking about how I might be able to get a hold of $55,000. She then had me speak to their financial department who said they could secure a discounted price of $43,000 if I could put down a $20,000 non-refundable deposit right away. (I would later find out that their usual price is actually $44,000) thankfully I said that I would sleep on it and gave myself some time to process it. 6. It was only the next day that they spoke with my therapist, who, like me, thought that this would be a bad idea. When I asked her about how it was appropriate to give someone a high pressured sales pitch 25 minutes after an intense “Regressive episode” and without any due diligence about it being the right fit for me, she offered no explanation. 7. When I then asked how it was appropriate to simply stop someone in middle of their emotional work without any follow up, she changed the explanation saying that it was actually because it was not safe for the group. (Very different from the day before when there was a sales opportunity) Aside from subpar level of services provided, there are some real ethical questions to be raised in how they conduct their business and I feel people should be made aware of this. Today, there are other options available. I have heard many horror stories about fly by night treatment centers who prey on the most vulnerable, but I would have never expected this from the so highly acclaimed Meadows. It’s sad to see such a fine institution turn into yet another money machine.
