A Unique Program

Dr. Marcy Chambers, a PhD and recovering alcoholic, opened The Rose House in 2007 and named it after her daughter, Brittany Rose, who died after using ecstasy. The Rose House is a high quality, gender-specific, extended care addiction and mental health treatment center where women can experience sustained sobriety and emotional healing. At The Rose House, they focus on the whole person by promoting psychological, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive healing. They focus on addressing trauma as the root cause of mental health and addiction, and they provide a safe and supportive environment for women to recover in. Their treatment uses a holistic approach, and therapy can include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), advanced emotion regulation, art therapy, equine therapy, nutrition, weekly family sessions, and mindfulness. In addition, there is a strong relapse prevention component in their program. Clients participate in a 12-Step program every evening and also volunteer in the community.

Mountain Views

The Rose Home is located in the quiet country outside of Boulder, Colorado. Their 16-bed country cottage offers incredible landscape views and often becomes a home away from home. Clients share household duties, dine together in a family dining room, and take advantage of a number of outdoor activities at their disposal. The intimate size of The Rose House and beautiful setting makes it an ideal place to start long term recovery.

Sober Living
Not Offered at This Center
Transitional housing designed to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders offering a safe, supportive and structured environment for practicing long-term sobriety, while reintegrating back into daily living.
Day Treatment

Loved One of a Former Client

My daughter spent 13 months in Rose House and its step-down program. It saved her life. The therapists are very skilled. They teach the women how to own their decisions, while also healing from the trauma and/or disordered thinking at the root of them. Rose House also offers support to its clients' families. Success requires commitment from the clients to do a lot of hard emotional work. But if they're willing to put in the effort, Rose House will give them all the support they need to recover and thrive!

Review from Rehabs.com

I have been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction for 16 years. And although I have always been aware that addiction is a disease that so many people suffer from, there was still a part of me that felt like my story was unique or different than in some way. I felt like there was no way that the world could ever help me because how could they ever truly understand what I had gone through in my life? When deciding to come to the Rose House, this was no exception, because I needed them to understand what I believed I "needed" in order to heal or recover. I had attended many other treatment centers in the past, but never one that addressed my underlying issues relating to my trauma and grief. In arriving at the Rose House, it was clear from the beginning that their approach was different. What I immediately loved about them was that it was clear that they did not focus on the problem, but rather the solution to the problem. That isn't to say that they didn't validate my journey or life experiences, but they truly helped me take action around changing these things. The Rose House slowly taught me that I did not have to continue to carry around the shame and fear I was feeling for such a long time. They taught me that in order to begin the healing process, that I had to take some risks first. And for me, the first risk was letting go of the toxic things I was using in my life to numb the pain. They supported me on the days that I was angry, sad or afraid, and with no strings attached, they just simply helped me to keep going. The staff at the Rose House is some of the most exceptional in my opinion, and that's truly because they care. Their investment was not in my family's money or how they could treat my disease "better" than other places could, but rather in providing me with the tools and skills I needed in order to live my life again. There is not only one approach that the Rose House takes with clients that come in, so if you are anything like me, and believe that you have exhausted other options, I am here to tell you that the Rose House works with you to find what WILL work. It is an individualized program that strongly focuses on what the client needs in order to succeed. I got the opportunity to truly change at the Rose House, and the best part is that they are still in my life reminding me that I am worthy. The Rose House is a place that I would recommend to anyone that is struggling with substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, etc. All I had to do was show up, and they helped with the rest. I needed to be reminded that there is HOPE, and that I did not have to continue to live the destructive life I was living. I am so grateful for the Rose House, and could not imagine my life without them in it now. If you're struggling, please know that a place like Rose House exists and that there is help out there when you're ready to accept it (or even if you're not ready).

Review from Rehabs.com

We were excited to send our daughter to Rose House in Lafayette. She and her group were assigned a woman just hired from California. My daughter had stories to tell me, but I took them with a grain of salt. After Ashley's "graduation " we met with several in her group. The stories were all true. The therapist was a huge detriment to the girls recovery. She was fired right after Ashley's graduation. I complained and gave examples and was never offered any kind of compensation for the huge amount of money wasted there . They did admit to complaints and the firing, but it was like, "Oh well. Sorry"!!

Review from Rehabs.com

It may seem strange that I am writing a review 9 years after being a resident of the Rose House. But longevity of sobriety is rarely identified as clients are discharged and move on with life. Numbers show often a dismal percentage of reported successes of sobriety years after treatment. When I entered the Rose House in 2010, I was a broken woman. Id relapsed badly with alcohol, after almost 29 years of sobriety. I'd lost my marriage, children and home and was suicidal. I stayed at the Rose House, a safe haven for almost a year. I had the chance to work on very serious childhood abuse and trauma which Id never done, and what finally was one of the causes of my relapse. Today, I credit the staff drs for helping me to gain sobriety and abstinence, and not only getting my life back, but allowing me a fulfilled and rich life. Anne C.

Review from Rehabs.com

Very expensive place where promises are not kept, family is not heavily involved in the treatment, input from family members is not valued, and they only spend increased energy when it is time to discuss payment for the next month. Limited family involvement/sessions are only 1 time per month for an hour... patient only sees the licensed therapist once a week for 1 hour and that therapist has an unmanageable case load. They are hesitant to issue a diagnosis and therefore obvious issues are not directly addressed but are “mentioned” in a casual way versus actually being part of a gameplay, with timelines and objectives for healing where progress can be measured to allow a safe, self sufficient life after 6 months to a year. Like many, they are good with detoxing, but we don’t see much progress beyond that to address the real mental illness that is the cause of the addictions. If we had to do it over again, we would have made a different choice!
