Turnbridge provides a gender-specific program to help young people suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Turnbridge uses a 3-phased approach to recovery. The focus of phase 1 is an opportunity for clients to become comfortable in the new home and meet their new peers and counselors. In phase 1, clients follow a structured daily schedule that supports treatment engagement. The schedule includes life skills development, therapeutic journaling, learning, and entertainment. Weekly treatment during phase 1 includes one individual session, daily case management, group sessions, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and 12-Step meetings. Phase 2 clients receive educational, employment, and volunteer counseling. Advisors and case managers help clients explore academic and career interests. Clients in phase 2 put their life skills into practice. Lastly, phase 3 emphasizes independence as clients apply their skills and embrace sober living. Clients are actively living out what they learned and are engaged in a new sober life. During this phase, clients gain more independence and can travel to in-person class and social activities.

Feel Welcomed in a Supportive, Peer-Focused Environment

Review from Rehabs.com

I graduated there in my late 20's after spending ten years in active addiction and battling mental health problems. I found the food, cleanliness, and quality of facilities excellent. Having been through a rehab before and white-knuckling before, I confidently believe Turnbridge has helped me continue to have a healthy existence in the real world. At TB I developed a lot of self-awareness, found the correct diagnosis, and became much more productive. Some minor recommendations I'd have are to just make the program better for the older clients (mid 20s and older). As someone who had graduated from college, lived independently from a young age, and had spent several years in the workforce I found almost all of Phase 2 unnecessary.

I fully emerged myself in any support or trainings that Turnbridge offered when my son was there and they were there for me every step of the way. But yes, there were obstacles and it was hard to learn to say no to my son and stop enabling him. But Turnbridge taught me how to do that. They don't just put a band aid on a client and send them on their way. They have the clients really dig in, learn how to feel and express their emotions and learn how to overcome obstacles that are really challenging. My son did not want to stay when things got challenging and threatened to leave as it was hard for him to be vulnerable.. But now, 5 1/2 years sober, he knows that he needed long term treatment (14 months) to change his thinking and gain skills for success and independence. I truly did not see obvious change with his behaviors and overall health until he was at Turnbridge for 6 months. His body and mind needed to heal and re-train his reactions and thoughts when life gets challenging. Thank you Turnbridge, for being there for us. Truly grateful..

Review from Rehabs.com

Turnbridge claims to be a DUAL-DIAGNOSIS program, but this is NOT THE CASE. Group therapy and individual therapy is limited and lessens as the program goes on; the two staff members in the women's program who can actually prescribe/have any knowledge of psychiatric medication are stretched extremely thin and it is lucky if you can see one of them for even 15 minutes each week. also the communication between the medical staff and the house staff is terrible and you probably wont receive your medication for days or weeks. The staff in general are NOT PROPERLY TRAINED, especially the phase one and two support staff, whose training is mainly based on their own experience with addiction (this is a problem for many reasons, not the least of which being the rate of relapse amongst the staff members, the frequency of "scandal" with clients, so to speak, and the fact that they have little to no mental health training). Support staff are in no way qualified to give advice or handle escalated situations, and yet they are the ones with that responsibility. And despite the lack of qualifications for the job, the staff is still stretched very thin. Any sign of struggle with motivation, depression, anxiety, eating disorders or mental health issues in general was met with impatience, lack of understanding, and, frequently, punishment. you cannot treat an addiction without addressing the underlying mental health issues driving it, and turnbridge blatantly ignores this fact in practice. they refuse to believe that an addiction could be secondary to, or less pertinent than, a mental illness. By the time I left the turnbridge women's program I was overmedicated, more confused than ever about my diagnoses, and had lost all faith in myself and my ability to make decisions or survive on my own. by the end my mom was on the phone with the staff on a daily basis before she started looking for somewhere better suited for my needs. Turnbridge is fine if you are just struggling with addiction, but if you are actually dual diagnosis, I wouldnt test your luck...

Turnbridge is a great place. I read some of the negative reviews and frankly almost laugh. Certainly many of the young people who have attended Tunbridge may not like it, getting sober and living a good life is hard. My son spent several months in Tunbridge and their program absolutely works. I believe it saved his life. The entire staff doesn't "do it for the money" they do it to help people. My son was meth addict and frankly extremely difficult for months until his brain started to heal. The staff at Tunbridge never gave up, they never stopped trying to help him. There is no perfect solution to help an addict, it's a process. The staff at Tunbridge with the experience they have and with as much care as possible do their best. That is the only solution the rest is up to the individual. May God bless all the staff at Turnbridge.

Review from Rehabs.com

I came to turnbridge for help with my addiction problems in a safe, nurturing, supportive environment. In the first few months of the treatment I was housed with 30 other girls, had a great supportive understanding case manager and all was good. When I got to the third phase of the program I was stuck with a case manager who treated everyone the same, never heard me out when I was having an issue with the treatment and blamed most things on higher up faculty. I was forced to make my living space perfect 100% of the time and threatened with losing funds, phones, and fun time if I was not to standard. I spent almost 7 months living with constant anxiety and fear and not focused on my recovery. If you/your children know how to take care of themselves/clean up after themselves. Do not send them to turnbridge. It’s a waste of money and time.
