Review from Rehabs.com

My daughter was there in 2020, it was a joke. For the first 3 months we got calls from either the nursing staff or police nightly due to running away. She picked up smoking while there, smoking pot and vaping. There was ZERO adult oversight or responsibility. She left much worse off than when she started. She was only home for 8 weeks before heading to another facility. Her fighting was also a daily occurrence with no consequences for actions across the board, even though there were constant promises from everyone at the facility that there would "soon be something in place", they talked about a cabin that was to be secured but NEVER happened. They even kept changing the discharge planning requirements (no fighting for XXX days, no smoking, self harming, running away, etc) to ensure a successful discharge. It started with 1 month, then with each incident counted down until she was LITERALLY doing all of these things within the week of discharge and they still sent her out "successful". She was also discharged with ZERO plan in place for any care, I was handed a list of supposed calls made the day of discharge which I later found out was actually a bold face lie as none of the places had ever heard of this place or my child. All in all... this place is a joke. They should be closed down for the damage done to our children that have been placed in their care. It was basically a glorified summer camp for teenagers.

The staff do not supervise the children well. Many children were in fights that resulted in injury such as traumatic brain injury and the need for X-rays. Many children run away and the police are called often. Items are frequently stolen. The clinicians did not include me in the plan of care without me having to make complaints. Even then, my child's needs were not met and many concerns were never addressed. My child is home now and considers the stay at the Village as being away to camp and can not recall coping strategies or lessens that were to be learned. Things are not going well. The Village was a waste of time and money.

This program has saved my sons life and helped our journey tremendously! He was headed to jail, no doubt. His behavior was uncontrollable and he was even starting to be abusive. With the caring staff here , he Has changed. His thinking and behavior patterns are great and he is much happier. I am 100% satisfied and can’t recommend this program enough. I get lots of communication on my son as well.

I was at the villages a few years ago. They did help with my mental health but refused me medical care because they thought I was faking it and I almost died, I am permanently physically damaged from this and have severe asthma attacks that put me in the hospital 2-3 times a year. The psychiatrist took a phone call from her cleaning lady while I was reviewing my childhood sexual assault with her upon my ENTRY. The techs were the only decent part. It has been six years and I still am recovering from the trauma of being here.

Review from Rehabs.com

My son was a patient for just over three months and I was very satisfied with his care and he was also. He bonded with the staff and it was very emotional the day he was discharged. The day before he was discharged, he had an attack of appendicitis and was taken to the emergency room. Three different staff members stayed with him at the hospital till I could get to him--a three hour trip. He had surgery the next day and was discharged--three weeks sooner than the projected date of discharge. He also had several visits with the local dentist while a patient there I was always informed of any time he was in pain or sick and plans were made promptly to get medical help when needed I could call anytime to ask about him if I felt anxious or worried. He got regular phone calls and home passes and earned other privileges. He actually told me he was "having fun". They helped him learn to control himself under pressure and he is now using the skills he learned there to control his destructive behavior at home. This is more than I was able to accomplish. Without the help of this program, I believe my son would have been in deep trouble. They were able to get his attention and help change negative behavior patterns. He uses the coping skills daily to control his impulsiveness. We are following up on other programs--counseling, medical, educational, job seeking, etc. Villages does an awesome job but it is the responsibility of the family to have a plan in place to reinforce the foundation laid by them. It is not a luxurious place; the swimming pool doesn't work and there are no horses. It is a rugged place but the kids are nourished and cared for by a dedicated overworked staff. My son highly respected them and came home with a better understanding of obedience and compliance of rules. I would highly recommend the facility for anyone who has a troubled and/or out-of-control teenager. We will never forget them.
