Treating All Genders

Walden Center for Recovery is a well-established treatment center that has helped over 25,000 individuals and their families. Their brand-new, cutting-edge facility is situated in Dedham, Massachusetts, 20 miles south of Boston. Their 82-bed inpatient program is open to youths 11 years and older and adults of all genders who have been diagnosed with any type of eating disorder. Walden's inclusive program comes equipped with experienced staff members who take into account the individual's unique circumstances by providing tailored, evidenced-based treatment plans. Walden has many customized programs, including specialty virtual tracks for the LGBTQIA+ community, competitive athletes, clients with binge eating disorders, and the Jewish community with a B'SHALOM program. Each program focuses on the direct need of each person and their family.

Individual Care

Walden’s residential program ensures 1-on-1 treatment. Patients are encouraged to cook and prepare their own meals while receiving help from compassionate staff members, mental health counselors, nurses, nutritionists, and psychologists. The program is meant to simulate real-life experiences and clients will have the opportunity to engage in “real-life” outings, like grocery shopping and dining out. Walden's facility includes a single room with abundant natural light, as well as a teaching kitchen, a full culinary staff, and special areas for music and art therapy.

Accepts Insurance

As a Monte Nido Affiliate, Walden Center for Recovery has numerous facilities throughout Georgia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Dedham is home to their Massachusetts residential facility, but they also offer intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) and virtual outpatient aftercare in most locations. Notably, Walden Center for Recovery accepts most private insurance and works with out of network insurance as well.

Levels of Care

Eating disorders interfere with healthy eating habits, potentially causing weight changes, poor mental health, and physical harm. Treatment addresses underlying thoughts and beliefs, aiming to heal relationships with food. Weight restoration and other medical interventions stabilize physical health.
Residential
Residential eating disorder treatment provides intensive medical and therapeutic care in a safe, structured setting with 24/7 monitoring, meal-time support, therapy, and services for weight restoration as needed.
Day Treatment
In a PHP, patients live at home but follow an intensive schedule of treatment. Most programs require you to be on-site for about 40 hours per week.
Intensive Outpatient Program
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) falls between inpatient care and traditional outpatient services, with therapy and skills-building activities designed to support recovery and provide flexibility. IOP is ideal for those needing support but not the 24/7 care of a residential facility.
Outpatient
Outpatient treatment offers flexible therapeutic and medical care without the need to stay overnight in a hospital or inpatient facility. Outpatient care typically offers a range of therapies and medical interventions individuals can attend alongside daily life.
Virtual & In-Home Care
Not Offered at This Center
The delivery of therapeutic services utilizing technology such as video conferencing, online messaging or phone calls, allowing for flexibility, comfort and increased access to care.
Co-Occurring Disorders
Conditions like depression, substance use, and trauma can co-occur with eating disorders. Many programs provide co-occurring eating disorder treatment for comprehensive healing.
